The 52/52 Manifesto.
In order to ensure continuity and clarity, we have created a set of rules for this challenge:
We will be going by the Oxford Dictionary definition of Adventure: “An unusual, exciting or possibly dangerous activity, such as a trip or experience, or the excitement produced by such an activity”. We aim to push, pull, poke and prod this definition in order to further explore the meaning by heading out on a wide range different experiences.
All adventures must be achievable for ‘normal people’. We are not professional explorers and are most certainly not trained endurance athletes, we are just bog standard people who like adventure - therefore all adventures must reflect this.
We have other jobs and therefore adventures must fit around this, this will mean some weeks we may not be able to head out on an adventure others we will do 2. But at the end of 52 weeks (one calendar year) we will have completed 52.
All adventures must be within the British Isles.
All adventures must be completed in a sustainable manner, with a total carbon footprint published by us at the end.
We will rate all adventures on an ‘Adventure Scale’ in order to guide those looking to tackle them.
So let the adventures begin; From climbing the peaks of Northern Scotland to surfing the breaks of southern Cornwall, foraging in the forests of deepest Snowdonia to camping wild on Dartmoor; through our experiences we want to inspire adventure seekers across the UK to explore more of this incredible set of islands.
Once again, we would love your help. We believe that no one knows a place like a local and this challenge is just as much about collaboration and community as anything else - so if you have an idea for an adventure for us please don’t hesitate to get in touch - we’d love to hear from you.
Charlie & Jess.
